Hon. mayors and city councillors,
Distinguished guests,
Ladies and gentlemen,

Good evening to all! It is my great pleasure to host the reception today marking the 66th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. I'd like to welcome and thank you for your graceful presence at my residence for this function.

Right now, we gather here not only to celebrate what China achieved in the past year, but also new progress in China's cooperation with Los Angeles and my consular district at large.

2015 is a crucial year for China to deepen the reform. As China's ecomony steps into the "new normal" phase and a number of policy measures of reform have garnered tangible results, China's economic and social development is moving right towards the direction set by the Chinese government. It is estimated that China's economic growth rate this year will maintain at about 7% and China is to continue enjoying economic prosperity in the predictable future.

The past year saw ever-strengthening of exchanges and collaboration between China and the United States. Thanks to our joint efforts, the China-US ties have grown increasingly close. Last year, our bilateral trade volume continued to rise, and the exchanges in the education and culture sectors received a new boom. Nowadays, our two countries' interests are so deeply interwined that every one of us can benefit from the healthy development of China-US relations.

Since today, Chinese President Xi Jinping has started a state visit to the United States at the invitation of US President Barack Obama. As a historic event in the China-US relations, this visit is to feature the two heads of state's in-depth discussion and exchanges of views on the major bilateral, regional and international issues. President Xi is also going to meet with a wide range of US officials and people from different circles, which  will further strengthen the friendship between our two peoples and deepen our cooperation in various areas. This visit presents new important opportunities to the development of China-US relations. We're full of confidence that China and the China-US relations enjoy a bright future.

On this occasion, I'd like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all my friends here for the invaluable support you lent to my consulate for the past year. I sincerely hope you can grasp the opportunity and make a good fortune of the development of China's economy and China-US relations.

Let us make efforts together to push forward the friendly cooperation between China and this consular district to an even higher level.

Thank you.
