Wang Yi Meets with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Tanasak Patimapragorn of Thailand

On August 4, 2015, Foreign Minister Wang Yi, when attending Foreign Ministers' Meetings on East Asian Cooperation in Kuala Lumpur, met with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Tanasak Patimapragorn of Thailand.

Wang Yi said that China and Thailand enjoy profound traditional friendship, mutual trust, and consistent ties of “Jeen Thai Phee Nong Gan (China and Thailand are as close as family members)”. Both sides should vigorously propel the all-round cooperation, implement the construction of large infrastructure projects, and deepen cooperation in law-enforcement, security and other fields.

Wang Yi said that the Chinese side will continue to firmly support the integration process of ASEAN, the construction of ASEAN community, and the leading role played by ASEAN in East Asian cooperation. The Chinese side appreciates the positive role of Thailand in advancing the development of bilateral relations in the past three years when Thailand functioned as the coordinator of China-ASEAN relations, and will make continuous efforts with the Thai side to deepen the relationship of China-ASEAN community of shared destiny.

Tanasak Patimapragorn expressed that Thailand and China are as close as family members, and that China is a trustworthy friend and partner of Thailand. This year has witnessed the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the successful visits of Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha to China, which manifest a good development momentum in Thailand-China relations. The Thai side stands ready to deepen cooperation with the Chinese side in trade of agricultural products, infrastructure construction, law-enforcement, security and other fields, so as to jointly promote new development in ASEAN-China relations.
