BEIJING, April 27 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping has expressed hope that China and Russia can continuously lift the level of their bilateral relations.
Speaking as he met with visiting Russian Deputy Prime Minster Dmitry Rogozin on Thursday, Xi said the two sides should join together to enrich the China-Russia strategic cooperation partnership and further tap the potential of bilateral links.
Xi welcomed Rogozin to China, saying China-Russia relations are one of the most important bilateral links in today's world.
The vice president said the growth of China-Russia relations has important bearing on the prosperity of both countries, the security and stability of the region and the world, the future of international relations and the orientation of international situation.
Chinese President Hu Jintao had already reached a consensus with Russian leaders on bilateral relations and major regional and international issues of common concern, according to Xi.
At present, the regional and international situation present complicated and profound changes as the world is in the process of great development, dramatic transformation and intensive readjustment, he said.
China and Russia share broad consensus on many major issues, Xi said, noting the two sides should further strengthen strategic cooperation, cope with challenges and make the best of opportunities, so to safeguard the common interests of the two countries as well as contribute to world peace, stability, development and prosperity.
Rogozin agreed with Xi's comment on the current state and prospect of Russia-China relations. He said Russia regards China as a true friend and the most important strategic partner.
Noting that the two countries are enjoying a positive, healthy, stable and sound momentum in bilateral links, Rogozin said Russia is ready to work with China to deepen political mutual trust, increase mutual support, expand pragmatic cooperation and advance bilateral relations to higher stages.
