X2 Visa Requirments

Introduction

X2 visa is issued to those who intend to study in China for a period of no more than 180 days. 

Visa applicant should be located in the U.S. but not in mainland China while the application is submitted.

Application Materials

1. Passport

Original passport with at least one blank visa page and valid for at least 6 months.

If you have a valid China visa in your previous passport, and the personal data in your new passport are the same as in your previous one, and your purpose to visit China is the same as permitted of your visa, you may use the two passports together to enter China without 'transferring' the visa to the new passport. Otherwise, a new visa should be reapplied and visa fee is applied.

2. Passport photocopy

One photocopy of data and photo pages of the passport.

3. Visa Application Form

One truthfully, correctly and completely filled Visa Application Form (Form V.2013). Please Click here to download the form.

Application form must be typed in black capital letters. Please click here to download and install the free Adobe Acrobat Reader with which to fill in the form.

Hand-written application forms are not accepted.

4. Photo

One recently-taken, color, passport photo against a light background. Please Click here to check detailed photo requirements.

5. Supporting documents

Original and photocopy of the Admission Notice issued by a school or other entities in China.

6. Proof of legal status of non-American applicant

Non-American applicant should have legal status in the USA and a copy of status proof, such as certificate of residence, employment, student or other legal status in the USA should also be submitted.

7. Previous Chinese passport or Chinese visa

When applying for Chinese visa with a new passport, applicant who used to be of Chinese citizenship should submit the original and a copy of data page of the last Chinese passport, or a copy of previous Chinese visa on the previous foreign passport.

If the name on the current passport differs from that on the previous passport, an official document of name change should also be submitted.

 


Processing Time

 Regular service: 4 business days

Pay and pickup on the 4th working day from your submission. For example, If you submit on Friday, generally your visa can be picked up next Wednesday.

 Express service: 3 business days;

Pay and pickup on the 3rd working day from your submission. For example, If you submit on Friday, generally your visa can be picked up next Tuesday.

 Rush service: 2 business days.

Pay and pickup on the 2nd working day from your submission. For example, If you submit on Friday, generally your visa can be picked up next Monday.

Express or rush service is subject to approval and additional charges should be paid. On a case by case basis, express or rush services may not be available and the processing time may be longer than 4 regular business days.


Pickup, Fees and Payments

 Your passport and visa can be collected by anyone with the original pickup slip on the date or later written on the slip, unless otherwise notified by the Visa Office.

Please check the details of your visa on the spot of collecting. Otherwise, all responsibilities aroused should be taken by the visa holders.


Special Reminders

The applicant shall be responsible for the authenticity of submitted passports, application forms, photos and other documents, including copied documents.

Other supplementary materials should be provided or an interview should be accepted if demanded by consular officers.

Any false, misleading or incomplete information may result in denial of the visa or refusal of entry into China.

Consular officers are authorized to decide whether to issue a visa and its validity, duration of stay and number of entries.
